Danish Khan, a current Informatics undergraduate will be joining the LUCI lab this summer as a SURF-IT scholar. He will be working with researchers (and being a researcher himself!) on the Nomatic*Aid project. He will be developing an application for mobile phones which allows network connectivity without the cooperation of the mobile phone infrastructure.

Introduce yourself if you see him around.

The LUCI lab, the department of Informatics and the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences have recently received some very exciting news: Dr. Gillian Hayes, who recently graduated from Georgia Tech, will be joining our faculty in Fall 2007!

Her bio is as follows:

Gillian R. Hayes received her Ph.D. from the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, under the advisement of Gregory Abowd. Her research lies in the field of HCI, with emphases on ubiquitous computing and CSCW. Her dissertation focuses on designing, deploying and understanding capture and record-keeping technologies for informal and unstructured daily activities. Further information about Gillian and her research are at www.gillianhayes.com.

Dr. Hayes will be a great resource for our lab, our students, and our university! Please join me in welcoming her as she transitions to Southern California!
